Rintaro Okabe (岡部 倫太郎, Okabe Rintarō?), often nicknamed Okarin (オカリン) or Hououin Kyouma (鳳凰院凶真, Hououin Kyōma), is a self-proclaimed mad scientist and the main protagonist of the Steins;Gate series.
Mayuri Shiina (椎名 まゆり, Shīna Mayuri), also known as Mayushii☆, is one of the main characters of Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0. She is Rintaro Okabe's childhood friend, a part-time worker at May Queen Nyan-nyan and a member of the Future Gadget Lab. She is also an avid cosplay maker and friend of Luka Urushibara and Akiha Rumiho.
Itaru Hashida (橋田 至, Hashida Itaru), also known by his nickname Daru, his online handle DaSH ("Daru the Super Hacker") and Barrel Titor, is a main character in Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0. He is an experienced hacker and a hardcore otaku, a member of the Future Gadget Lab and a close friend of Rintaro Okabe who eventually becomes the husband of Yuki Amane and the father of Suzuha Amane.
Kurisu Makise (牧瀬 紅莉栖 Makise Kurisu?) is the daughter of Shouichi Makise, a genius girl who graduated from university at the age of seventeen, and a member of the Brain Science Institute at Viktor Chondria University and the Future Gadget Lab.
Moeka Kiryu (桐生 萌郁 Kiryū Moeka) is a part-time editor whom Rintaro Okabe encounters in Akiba. She is practically glued to her phone and cannot function without it. Even when face to face, Moeka prefers to communicate by email, to the point where if her phone is taken away, she will almost refuse to speak until her phone is returned.
Luka Urushibara (漆原るか Official romanization: Urushibara Luka?) (Anime romanization: Ruka) is a close friend & classmate of Mayuri Shiina and so-called protégé of Rintaro Okabe. While feminine in appearance and personality, Luka is a male in most world lines. Mayuri often attempts to coerce him into cosplaying.
Faris NyanNyan (フェイリス・ニャンニャン, Feirisu NyanNyan), real name Rumiho Akiha (秋葉 留未穂, Akiha Rumiho) is the daughter of Yukitaka Akiha and Chikane Akiha, a part-time employee and owner of the maid cafe MayQueen NyanNyan, the same maid cafe that Mayuri Shiina works at where she is the most popular waitress there and a second year student at Kanaria Private Academy.
In the Alpha Attractor Field that most of Steins;Gate takes place in, Suzuha Amane (阿万音鈴羽, Amane Suzuha), later known as Suzu Hashida (橋田鈴, Hashida Suzu), is a part-time employee for Yugo Tennouji's (the landlord of Rintaro Okabe's flat) CRT store who is on a search for her father in Akihabara. She enjoys riding her bicycle, appears to be at odds with Kurisu Makise and is a major character in the series.
